another parody, just in time for the latest star wars craze: grocery store wars

Posted on Friday 20 May 2005

if the “thumb wars” short movie or a “dark chocolate” m&m’s “m-pire” buyin wasn’t enough to sate your hankering for star wars sendups or inane exploitation, here is “store wars”.

from their website:

Press Release — STORE WARS: THE ORGANIC REBELLION

Store Wars is the latest outreach effort of OTA to educate consumers about the many benefits of organic products. By spoofing a pop culture phenomenon like Star Wars, OTA hopes to attract a new generation of organic consumers, especially “Gen Xers” who grew up loving Luke, Leia and Han, and are now increasingly concerned about making healthy food choices for their families.

tofu-d2's description

don’t get me wrong, i’m all for organic foods and understanding the true costs of our government-subsidised consumer lifestyle. but come on! enough with the star wars already! if i hear that stupid “stormtrooper march”, that heavy-headgear mouthbreathing or “luuuuke eye yam yoooour faaaah-thaaah!” one more time, or attached to one more product, it’ll be all too soon. perhaps i’ll have to hide out in a cave until the whole thing blows over.

but, if there’s an upside to all of this, with all of the costumed-freaks-standing-in-line stories to be told, at least there’s no room on the evening television news budget for another michael jackson update.

then it’s quick costume change and standing in line for the release of the next harry potter book.
