dropbox post: read this book

i’m at work; probably shouldn’t be posting.

i’m trying to slap together some assignments so i can rest easy for the x-mas holiday, and 11 hours with a constant feed of npr right into the ear makes for some pretty loopy connections.

just listened to a fresh air conversation between terry gross and richard powers. powers just won the national book award for his novel The Echo Maker. the story is compelling, and the author’s voice is enthralling, very soothing and disconcertingly juxtaposed against this amazing story. it’s the tale of a man who suffers from a rare mental condition that makes him forget those he loves the most, they’re still familiar to him and appear to be like the people he knows, but the deep emotional connection is lost and therefore they must be impostors.

note to lefty: find an audiobook version of this.
